I do Botanical Art and Botanical Illustration because I am surprised by the harmony of Nature in its proportions and colours and because I think it helps to raise awareness about the conservation of plant species and Climate Change. In these times of pandemic, painting allows me to escape everyday anxiety and fear and share with other people and artists.
Hago Arte Botánico e Ilustración Botánica porque me sorprende la armonía de la Naturaleza en sus proporciones y colores y porque creo que ayuda a tomar conciencia sobre la conservación de las especies vegetales y el Cambio Climático.
En estos tiempos de pandemia, la pintura me permite escapar de la ansiedad y el temor cotidianos y compartir con otras personas y artistas .
¿What motivates you?
I believe that art is inherent to the human being, it can be asleep or crouched inside one and suddenly there is a trigger that leads you to investigate it, to do it, to experience it. In my case, I would say that the trigger was the wonderful paintings of the Russian churches of Saint Petersburg that led me to start the path I am on.
Is there a connection between your process and your artwork’s message?
Immerse yourself in botanical art allows you to love and want to protect nature and the environment.
Why do you use certain materials?
Utilizo la acuarela y las tintas porque me permiten fluidez y transparencias fundamentalmente, también porque son fáciles de transportar y manipular.
What does it mean for you to paint with these artists, especially in these uncertain times?
They are the infinite bonds of friendship that unite us, and the serenity that is installed and comforts in these uncertain times when every week we begin the process of painting and speaking.
Qué te motiva?
Creo que el arte es inherente al ser humano, puede estar dormido o agazapado dentro de una y de pronto hay un detonante que te lleva a investigarlo, a realizarlo, a experimentarlo. En mi caso diría que el detonante fueron las maravillosas pinturas de las iglesias rusas de San Petesburgo que me llevaron a iniciar el camino en que estoy.
¿Existe una conexión entre su proceso y el mensaje de su obra de arte?

Utilizo la acuarela y las tintas porque me permiten fluidez y transparencias fundamentalmente, también porque son fáciles de transportar y manipular.
¿Qué significa para ti pintar con estas artistas chilenas sobre todo en estos tiempos de incertidumbre?
Son los infinitos lazos de amistad que nos unen , y la serenidad que se instala y reconforta en estos tiempos inciertos cuándo cada semana empezamos el proceso de pintar y hablar.
